BOOGEYMAN RECORDS (CUTTIN' HEADZ)
Boogeyman represents the fresh addition to The Martinez Brothers’ renowned Cuttin’ Headz, emerging as an exciting sub label.
Jesse Calosso, the mastermind behind the project, not only spearheads the A&R but also marks the beginning with an impressive compilation, giving a taste of the label’s future direction and talent pool.
The lineup features a stellar cast including Jaden Thompson, Aaron D, Jean Pierre, Joey Daniel, and The Martinez Brothers themselves.
Launching with “Planet Mars” by Aaran D, the track introduces itself with robust house drums and an infectious groove generated by sleek synths. “Raw Life” by AJ Christou & Gabriel Torres follows, boasting dynamic, distorted synths and pulsating drums that fuel the energetic atmosphere. British artists Alex Arnout & Matt Tolfrey collaborate on “Back to Flat,” a high-octane deep house piece that maintains a smooth, fast-paced momentum. Blas Cordero’s “Do It” showcases tightly woven deep techno, while Jaden Thompson adds emotive vocals to his irresistible drum programming in “Closer.”
Meanwhile, Jean Pierre’s “Da Heights” presents a tech-funk spectacle, intertwining twisted pads and offbeat bass for a futuristic edge. Calosso’s own contribution, “Disc-Hoe,” enlivens the collection with its lively arrangement, featuring vibrant drums and punctuated vocal stabs.
Joey Daniel’s exemplary house expertise provides a powerful conclusion, preceding The Martinez Brothers’ intense groove that revolves around robust drums and pulsating bass, setting the stage for an explosive dance floor experience. Finally, Vic Damone Jnr injects a contemporary twist into the Chicago sound, incorporating raw claps, urban vocals, and a thumping bassline that electrifies the senses.
This inaugural release signifies an exceptional start for the label, poised to make a significant impact in the music scene.
